DroneBlocks Activity

Drone Blocks Activity

for module 2 this was our last assignment. we were meeting in the 2nd floor of the ecdc to learn about the drones and be able to work with them. however this class was about 2 hours long we had to watch videos and read the manual guide on the drones. the videos and passages helped me learn how to made a code for the drone and all the fun things I can do with the drone you should read through all the instructions even tho they are long it will help you get a better understanding on how to do your assignment once the first group was finished with their instructions they wanted to give the drone a shot they first had to get a battery for the drone some of them were dead and some of them had just enough battery for them to turn on. as me and my partner are sitting in the class everyone is curious on how they are going to work the drone since they are the first group to start we stand around them in a circle as they start and boot the drone up and they were having technical difficulties which was expected my professor called them the gin pigs because they were the first group to start. after turning the drone off and back on it was able to work it was blinking multiple colors and it finally started to fly which is in the picture below. after they let use the the steps they used to get their drone to fly we were off to our own groups to start on our drones. a little problem the class was having was that they were not connecting to the Tello-wifi each drone had a name or number after the Tello and that is the name you use to connect to the wifi if you were connected to the drone itself and not the Tello wifi it will not work. me and my partner had trouble getting it to connect to her MacBook I always thought it was harder on the computer than a phone so I tried to connect with my phone and It worked and connected immediately and I went ahead and helped a couple of my classmates to se up their connection to their drones. me and my partner set up the code down below for our drone and it turned out and worked perfectly for us.

ISTE Standard

3c: Plan collaboratively with other educators to create learning activities that cross disciplines to strengthen student understanding of CT and CS concepts and transfer application of knowledge in new contexts.

I think this activity aligned with this standard because I had to work with my partner throughout this lab. We had to problem-solve and try to understand the lesson as a whole, so we would be able to teach it to others. Since this is a lab that we could use when work students at the I-create lab, we had to look at this activity as if we were the students doing them, by looking at the complicated aspects and the parts that were interesting to us. I think it is important that educators communicate and collaborate because there are even more possibilities to create an engaging lesson for students to do.
